Slave – Slave (1977)

Personal Note: Quintessential album by the group and easily one of their best. The 9-piece outfit from Dayton Ohio (Before the Steve Arrington yrs), Came up with the track “Slide” in the basement of Bessie Washington; (Mother of said group leader of the time), Steve Washington’s New Jersey home. The group of multi-generation players….Some as young as 15 and others in their mid-30’s released some of the best funk ever to come out of the Ohio area.
Very distinguished sound at the time with the slap bass style of Mark Adams and the Jimi Hendrix/Ernie Isley influenced Marc “Drac” Hicks on electric guitar.
