Mother Freedom Band – Cutting The Chord (1977)
Personal Note: My funk lovin’ brothers, This rare number is undoubtedly one of those gems to throw at people who firmly believe that Funk begins with James Brown & ends with Parliament/Funkadelic wth nothing in between. The tone of the traps from the drummer here reminds me of “The Chicago Gangsters” or maybe “New Birth/The Nite Liters“. Nice brass, Clavinet and pretty impressive production overall for a lesser known outfit.
